COMMON QUESTIONS
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know if therapy might help?
If something feels harder than it should—communication, feeding, movement, behavior, learning, daily routines, or recovery after illness or injury—therapy may be able to help.
Sometimes a skill is taking longer to develop than expected. Sometimes you're having trouble keeping up with what others your age can do, or with things you used to do more easily. Sometimes you've been told to "wait and see," or you've tried therapy before but still feel stuck.
One of the things that makes Circle Creek different is our collaborative approach. Our therapists work together across specialties, sharing ideas and different perspectives. Sometimes a fresh set of eyes—or another therapist's expertise—is exactly what's needed to uncover new strategies or a different path forward
You don't need to have a diagnosis or know exactly what service you need before reaching out. We're here to listen, take your concerns seriously, and help you figure out the next best step.
What makes Circle Creek Therapy different?
At Circle Creek Therapy, we believe the best care happens when people work together. Our speech, occupational, physical, behavioral, and mental health providers collaborate regularly, sharing ideas and supporting one another to help every patient reach their goals.
We also believe therapy should be personal. We take the time to get to know each patient and family, understand what matters most to them, and create therapy that's engaging, meaningful, and individualized—not one-size-fits-all.
No one therapist has all the answers—but together, our team brings different experiences, specialties, and perspectives to help every patient find the path that's right for them.
Do you see adults too?
Yes! Although many people know us for pediatric therapy, Circle Creek also has clinicians who specialize in working with adults. Every therapy plan is tailored to the individual, their goals, and what matters most in everyday life. While our clinic is bright, welcoming, and family-friendly, our adult therapists provide age-appropriate, evidence-based care in a supportive environment where people feel comfortable and encouraged.
We believe therapy should be something you look forward to — not something you just have to get through.
What if I’m not sure which service we need?
That’s completely okay. Many families and patients aren’t sure where to start. Our team can help guide you toward the right fit, whether that’s speech therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, feeding support, behavioral therapy, mental health support, or another resource.
What should I expect at the first appointment?
Your first visit is usually an evaluation. Before your appointment, we'll ask you to complete your paperwork and submit it ahead of time. That gives your therapist the opportunity to review your information beforehand so you can spend more of your appointment focused on getting to know each other—not filling out forms.
During the evaluation, we'll talk about your concerns, complete assessments, answer your questions, and learn about what matters most to you or your family. Before you leave, we'll review our recommendations together and discuss the next steps.
Do I need a referral?
Yes. We typically require a referral from a doctor before starting therapy. Most insurance plans require one, and we believe it’s important for your primary care provider to be aware of and involved in your care, especially for services like occupational therapy.
If your insurance does not require a referral, or you’re having trouble getting one from your provider, please contact us. Our team can help you figure out the next step.
Do you accept insurance?
We accept many commercial insurance plans. Coverage can vary depending on your plan, benefits, and authorization requirements, so our team will help verify your benefits and explain expected costs before getting started.
Can caregivers participate in therapy sessions?
Absolutely. We love partnering with caregivers and believe they're an important part of the therapy team. Depending on the client's age, goals, and needs, caregivers may participate in sessions, observe, ask questions, or receive ideas to support progress at home.
We also know that caregiving is hard work, and sometimes a little break is exactly what's needed. If it's appropriate for the client and treatment plan, many caregivers choose to relax in our waiting room, catch up on work, enjoy a cup of coffee, or simply take a few moments for themselves while therapy is in session.
For everyone's safety, we do ask that a caregiver remain onsite throughout the appointment so they're available if needed.
Will I have the same therapist each visit?
Whenever possible, yes. We typically try to keep you with the same therapist because we know that consistency and strong relationships matter.
That said, therapists take vacations, get sick, and have schedule changes too. When that happens, we do our best to make sure patients can still receive their medically necessary care, even if that means rescheduling with another clinician.
We also find that seeing another clinician occasionally can be really helpful. Each therapist brings different training, specialties, ideas, and experiences, and sometimes a fresh set of eyes can help identify something new that supports progress. For patients who struggle with change, it can also be a supported opportunity to practice flexibility in a safe and familiar environment.
Do you offer support beyond weekly therapy?
Yes. Circle Creek is growing beyond traditional weekly therapy. Depending on what is currently available, families may be able to access groups, parent education, community events, water massage table scheduling, and additional programs through our sister non-profit, Circle Creek Cares.
