What I Wish People Knew About My Job as a Occupational Therapy Assistant

Updated: Apr 17

Jen:

The more I work with our kids, the more I feel like my job is like an ever-changing puzzle. What works for one does not necessarily work for another. And what worked today may not work tomorrow, as our patients grow and their personalities and skills develop.

I truly love watching each of them slowly come into their own and discover the world around them.

With our adults, I have always enjoyed helping them regain their independence. I love the stories and history they often share as we work together.

As an occupational therapy assistant, my job is to help people realize their abilities, to discover their strengths, and help develop the skills that are challenging for them. I can help them learn that the world has so many fun and wonderful things to explore.

I love that I am able to be a part of their journey!
