What I Wish People Knew About My Job as a Physical Therapist Assistant

Updated: 2 days ago

Kristen:

First off, PT does not stand for Physical Torture! :)

Being a PTA means helping my patients get back to the things that they enjoy in life. I love seeing patients accomplish goals that they either didn't think they could ever do again or that they have been striving to reach. For me, it's the little things that make people excited in their recovery that makes me enjoy what I do. Not every day is peaches, but we still try to make it fun and exciting along the way.

One of my favorite things is learning about people, whether it's their culture, things they like, or getting restaurant recommendations. I learn so much every day from my patients.

When it comes to pediatric therapy, well, that's a whole different world. What I like the most is seeing kids do things that they haven't done before or getting over a fear. It is so fun to watch kids get excited about catching a ball, or learning how to jump.

Kids need a fun and safe environment to learn and grow. As a PTA, I can help facilitate that environment and help teach them new things while getting to play all day!

All in all, being a PTA rocks. Come shadow me, or meet with me to learn more! You can call us at

253.237.3405 to schedule an appointment. We would love to meet you!
