D&D Group (Ages 8+)

Service Description

This group will utilize therapeutic tabletop role playing games (TTRPGs) to help players in developing and practicing life skills, social/pragmatic language, and coping strategies that can support kids through the challenges that are part of living with ADHD, Autism, anxiety, depression, trauma, or other developmental and behavioral health conditions or life challenges. TTRPGs not only provide a safe and fun environment to practice these skills but also help kids create community with other neurodivergent folks. Participants do not need to be currently enrolled in any specific discipline (OT, PT, ST, BH, ABA), but must be attending at least one service at Circle Creek. Kids do not need any previous experience with D&D or other table top role playing games to participate or have fun. Participants should be able to safely participate in a group setting with peers, with the support of 2-3 therapists functioning as 'game masters' facilitating the group, but without 1:1 support or the need for a parent to be present. Best for kids with adequate receptive and expressive communication skills, but social and pragmatic communication challenges are appropriate growth areas to target for improvement in this group. Up to 6 kids can participate, for ages 8 and up. 6-week series (weekly sessions; enrollment includes all 6 weeks)
