Straight From the Heart: Rachelle Radke

Rachelle and her husband have 3 wonderful children. Myka, Dylan, and Landon are their kids, and they all attend Circle Creek Therapy for speech and/or occupational therapy.

Rachelle has been bringing her kids into Circle Creek Therapy for a few years, and we couldn't wait to interview her about her sweet family! Read more about her experience at Circle Creek Therapy below.

1. Can you tell us a little about each of your kids?

"Landon is energetic. He is my nature kid, and he is very caring."

"Dylan is very responsible. He is my big helper, and he is an uplifter. He will always say nice things to me, or give me hugs if I am feeling down."

"Myka is very curious about the world which I like. She loves animals - that's her passion is animals. She likes to stand up for other kids. She can be very protective."

2. What are some of your favorite things about Myka, Dylan, and Landon?

"Overall I really enjoy my children. I love seeing their personalities. I like having a strong relationship with them because I think that it helps build their self-esteem."

3. What kinds of improvements have your kids made since coming to Circle Creek Therapy?

"The way they use language is a lot better, like how they use grammar. If the speech therapists reinforces their goals, then it isn't as big of a deal if I do it too. As a result, there has not been anymore meltdowns when I correct their grammar."

"Occupational and speech therapy helps identify their feelings and emotions, and it has helped with homeschooling and their confidence."

"Dylan is doing feeding therapy and that has helped a lot. He has learned how to change his attitude about food, so he has started to use different language about his food. Like if he doesn't like something, he says that it is "interesting" instead of "disgusting" or "gross". Dinner time used to be the most difficult time of the day, but he has really improved a lot. He is trying a lot of new food."

4. What kind of advice would you give to other parents out there?

"Sometimes you have to put your insecurities aside because you have to do what is best for your child. If you take them to therapy, they won't struggle as much, and that way they won't have low self-esteem in the future."

"Remember to always be openminded, and to take suggestions from therapists."

"Always be in involved with the therapists - that is an important one."

5. What has been your experience like at Circle Creek Therapy?

"It has been very positive. It feels like home."
