What I Wish People Knew About My Job as a Speech Language Pathologist

Updated: 6 days ago

Maria:

It's not all "speech" sound work like working on /s/ or /r/, although we do love articulation! Some clients work on their social skills (pragmatics) and participating meaningfully in conversations. Others work on voice disorders, or feeding/swallowing, or using language after a stroke. We think we have a pretty cool and diverse caseload ;)

Everyday is different and we embrace challenges and changes! Our clients keep us on our toes because everyone is unique. That's why your treatment plan is individually developed for you, and specifically tailored to your needs.

Circle Creek Therapy promotes a collaborative environment where we can indirectly target goals for other disciplines (OT and PT!). I feel very supported and grateful to work as part of a team. It allows us to brainstorm together to best meet the needs of our clients.

We aren't magicians and we can't "fix" things, but we hope we can truly change lives for the better and empower everyone we see. One of the best feelings is watching a client's confidence grow!

We hope to offer you a different kind of care than you could receive in the schools or in a hospital/medical setting. We know that SLPs work in other places (and all SLPs are wonderful!), but we chose to work in private practice because we value the relationships we can build and share with families.

If you would like to meet one of our amazing speech therapists, & ask them some questions, don't hesitate to call us at 253.237.3405 to schedule a discovery visit, or to just express a concern.

We would love to meet you!
