Indoor fun

March 2, 2018

Looking for some indoor play during these cold and rainy days for your preschooler or toddler? Many community centers offer indoor play sessions for little ones - check out the Federal Way Community Center and the Auburn Community and Event Center, both have play opportunities in their gyms on weekday mornings. Taking part in a play session is a wonderful way to encourage your little one to play with others. Learning to share, imaginative play, and turn taking are just some of the skills that your preschooler can work on by participating in a play group. Also, check out your local library for story times and other more structured play groups for free! If you’re concerned about your child’s social, or pragmatic, development, please give us a call at Circle Creek Therapy to schedule a free consultation!

Federal Way Community Center coordinates “Come Play With Me” on Monday and Friday mornings from 9:30 - 11:30am for $3 per child, and Auburn Community and Event Center hosts Toddler Indoor Playground at Les Gove Park for $2 per child on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, from 9:30-11:00. Both these events are drop in at any point during the time and stay for as long as you wish. The events are not structured, and they are not classes that you need to join and then attend consistently, making them super flexible depending on the needs of your little one.

Visiting the play areas at malls is another option for building social skills as you play indoors - and it is free! The Outlet Collection in Auburn and The Commons in Federal Way have play areas for young children. The Tacoma Mall and Westfield Southcenter also have bigger play areas, but tend to be busier.

Your local library is also a great resource that hosts story times and other more structured play groups. Also free!
