What is Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month? What is the purpose?



The purpose of DDAM, is to provide awareness of what Developmental Disabilities are and what they mean for the individual and their families. As well as aiming to provide resources for the barriers that may occur.



Developmental Disabilities is defined by the CDC as "a group of conditions due to an impairment in physical, learning, language, or behavior areas. " About one in six children in the U.S. have one or more developmental disabilities or other developmental delays.
