Are you an introvert? Here's why you should be speaking up

Updated: Apr 17

Introverts are unfortunately overlooked.

Introverts tend to be more reserved, so their thoughts are not always on the forefront of a conversation. But what they don't realize is that their ideas matter just as much as the extrovert sitting next to them.

Sure, the extrovert does not have any trouble shooting up their hand when an ideas first pops into their head, (no matter if it is a good or bad idea I might add). But, don't neglect the introvert. Instead of impulsively raising their hand as soon as a new idea pops into their head, the introvert decides to methodically think it over.

Students raising their hands

Even though the introvert might have an exceptional idea, they can be too shy to raise their hand, since they usually get outshined by the extrovert.

But the introvert should raise their hand. You know why? Their voice deserves to be heard just as much as the outspoken extrovert.

An introvert is typically someone who is usually taking the back seat, so they can observe things from a different angle. Their input could be crucial in solving a complicated problem. Ultimately, all was needed was the quiet introvert's thoughts.

Don't get me wrong, extroverts are needed too. But introverts should never downplay their strengths.

So introvert, if you are looking for someone to tell you to speak up ... THIS IS IT. Raise your hand! You got this!

We need you just as much as the extrovert.
