Positive Thoughts "Fortune Teller" Craft

Updated: Apr 17

While at Circle Creek Therapy, our therapists like to work on building our client’s self-confidence. One of the ways that we do this is by teaching our patients about the importance of positive self-talk! We believe that by saying nice things to yourself, you can learn new coping skills that will help you overcome challenges, manage your stress, or just become a happier person.

We like to start the therapy session with examples of what some positive self affirmations are. Some examples might include:

  • “Everything will be okay”

  • “I am capable”

  • “It is enough to try my best”

  • “Today is going to be my day”

  • “I choose my own attitude”

After reviewing some examples together, we like to come up with new positive thoughts that are unique to the patient that we are working with. After we have compiled our list, the fun begins! A great way to make this exercise more engaging is to make a “positive talk fortune teller.” Follow the directions below to learn how to make one!

Step 1: Print out a “fortune teller” template. If you don’t have access to a printer, we can print one out for you! Or you can just make one yourself!

Step 2: Choose a color name for each square.

Step 3: Put numbers on the 1st layer of triangles.

Step 4: Write down your positive affirmations on the next layer of triangles.

Step 5: Color your craft.

Step 6: Have fun!

The beauty of this exercise is that it can be done at home! If you start to notice that your child is feeling down, you can use this craft as a fun resource. Everyone can use some positive self-talk once in a while, so why not give this craft a shot? Please don't forget to tell us what you think because we would love some feedback!
