Concussion and cognition
Just like the “NFL Game Day Concussion Protocol,” any person who receives a blow or injury to the head, including stroke, that results in any loss of consciousness or disorientation and/or confusion should be assessed for concussion and TBI. Even something as “common” as a loss of consciousness could result in short-term or lasting cognitive deficits. That’s where a trained and experienced speech-language pathologist can help.
Speech-language pathologists (SLPs) play a central role in the screening, assessment, and treatment of people with TBI. The SLPs at Circle Creek Therapy are trained in the evaluation and treatment of cognitive-communication deficits. Think of us as your concussion protocol for cognitive-communication.
If you have had a TBI or stroke or you know someone who has, and they haven’t been screened for cognitive-communication deficits, please give us a call to set up a free consultation. 253.237.3405
